UniFi Protect 7.0: the new era of intelligent video surveillance

Ubiquiti's video platform takes a major leap with UniFi Protect 7.0: on-camera artificial intelligence, smarter storage and a management experience built for scale — all with the licensing cost that has always defined the ecosystem, which is to say none at all. Here's what matters most for keeping your home or business secure.

What is new in Protect 7.0

Ubiquiti released UniFi Protect 7.0 on March 17, 2026 with major improvements in artificial intelligence, storage management and user experience. It includes Alarm Manager for advanced if-this-then-that automations, Sensor Manager for motion and environmental sensors, and Case Manager to organize security incidents.

Artificial intelligence at the edge

The platform uses edge computing to run AI directly on the cameras. This enables instant searches with Smart Detections, facial and license-plate recognition, vehicle classification by type and color, and audio event detection such as glass breaking or car alarms, all processed locally without cloud dependency.

Smart storage and cloud archiving

Enhanced retention intelligently lowers the quality of older footage to optimize storage while keeping recent recordings at maximum quality. Cloud archiving now supports Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive, with a revamped bulk export.

No licenses, no limits

UniFi Protect keeps a zero licensing cost regardless of scale: whether you manage 4 or 4,000 cameras, the licensing cost stays at zero. All AI and recording run locally on the UNVR or Enterprise NVR, removing cloud fees and subscriptions.
